As the Antenatal and Postnatal Hospital Services Lead Midwife, you will be passionate to deliver high-quality, personalised care to women and families.

Your role will involve leading a dynamic team of midwives, fostering a collaborative environment, and ensuring that the services provided are responsive to the diverse needs of the families we serve.

You will be a key driver in developing and enhancing services, leading with expertise, and supporting the continuous improvement of hospital maternity care within North West Anglia Foundation Services.

Main duties of the job

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and support a team of midwives, ensuring they provide compassionate, evidence-based care.

Develop and implement service strategies that align with national guidelines and local needs.

Promote and deliver high-quality, safe, and person-centred maternity services within hospital maternity services.

Build strong relationships with families, offering guidance and support at every stage of pregnancy, transitional and postnatal care.

Drive quality improvement projects to enhance service delivery and patient satisfaction.

Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide seamless, integrated care.

Provide leadership, participate in perinatal governance forums, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards

Person specification


Educational and Qualifications

* Registered Midwife
* Evidence of personal and professional development
* Evidence of a leadership/management course or equivalent


Experience

* Relevant and recent experience in hospital midwifery services.
* Experience in line management and leadership
* Experience of multidisciplinary working
* Ability to demonstrate involvement and experience in change management
* Ability to address complex issues and evidence of dealing with these in a planned manner
* Experience in budget management


Knowledge

* Evidence of knowledge of current professional perinatal issues
* Understanding of National Maternity and neonatal agendas
* Applicable knowledge of NMC rules that governs effective and safe practice
* Evidence of involvement in audit cycles and review of practice
* Understanding of Perinatal governance processes
* Ability to demonstrate understanding of human factors
* Demonstrates understanding of HR processes relevant to staff management


Other

* Ability to travel across trust sites as required
* Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs
* Ability to participate in senior midwifery on call rota
* Leadership and team building skills
* Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
* Ability to motivate staff and influence midwives and other professionals
* Good report writing skills
* Evidence of managing difficult and complex conversations
* Experience of analysing the service performance against nationally required improvements
