Sellick Partnership is recruiting for a Head of Housing on behalf of a client specialising in supporting older people in the West Midlands. Within this role, you will manage several supported housing and independent living schemes.
Responsibilities
* Line manage the housing team and the property services manager
* Provide a responsive, high-quality housing service that is sensitive to the needs and preferences of older residents
* Monitor rent accounts and take action to minimise arrears, ensuring appropriate referrals to debt advice and benefit support
* Oversee tenancy, licence and resident queries and complaints, ensuring clear resolution in line with policies
* Manage voids and allocations efficiently, maintaining a clear waiting list and ensuring timely lettings
* Work with the property services manager to deliver effective repairs, maintenance, and property compliance
* Ensure housing records, support plans, and safeguarding practices meet regulatory requirements
* Keep the CEO and board informed of changes in housing legislation, sector developments, and good practice
* Produce regular housing management reports for the board, operations committee, and managed agent boards
* Lead on all regulatory submissions (e.g. NROSH, CORE lettings, tenant satisfaction measures)
* Develop and deliver the housing strategy, including stock improvement, remodelling or growth opportunities
* Promote strong communication with residents and ensure the tenant voice is embedded in service design and improvement
* Act as health and safety lead for all housing services, embedding safe working practices across all schemes
* Promote and manage the charitable grant programme, ensuring clear application, decision-making and communication processes
* Distribute grants to older people referred in housing or financial need
* Act as agent for other charities distributing special funds, ensuring accurate records are maintained
Essential requirements for the role:
* Minimum 5 years of experience working in housing management within an RSL.
* Good understanding of common support required, and housing issues experienced by older people
* Assessment of potential tenants/residents, allocations and lettings
* Experience within rent and service charge setting
