Join Aston University as a Professor in Engineering Design
We are looking for an inspiring academic to help shape the future of engineering design education through a strategic partnership with Autodesk. This permanent, full-time role offers an exciting opportunity to embed innovative design pedagogy, digital workflows, and professional practice at the heart of our programmes. You will work collaboratively to develop engaging modules, integrate Autodesk tools across the curriculum, and create learning experiences that empower students to thrive in a rapidly evolving engineering landscape. As part of our supportive Design Factory Birmingham and the School of Engineering and Innovation, you will contribute to a culture that values creativity, inclusivity, and real-world connections.
What we’re looking for
You will bring a PhD (or equivalent industrial experience) in Engineering Design or a related discipline, experience in design education, and strong proficiency with Autodesk products. We welcome individuals who can inspire students, foster inclusive learning environments, and work in partnership with colleagues and industry networks. Experience in interdisciplinary teaching, research in design pedagogy, and involvement in initiatives such as CDIO or Design Factory ecosystems is highly desirable.
