JOB DESCRIPTION Title: Archivist Intern Line Manager: Jasper Parrott Executive Chairman Salary range: London Living Wage £13.15 per hour Basis: Fully flexible (can be part-time or full-time) Location: London: Brentford – on site only Duration: 3 month fixed term contract Closing Date: 11.59pm Sunday 12th May 2024 Job purpose Primary responsibilities of The Archivist Intern will be digitalising paper materials which will include organising paper documents & digital documents, item description and the preservation of work at our offsite storage based in Brentford, London. The intern will learn strategies for making archival materials accessible and how to digitise images at archival standards. The intern will work directly with the Archivist, Executive Chairman and Associate Director, People and Operations. Key accountabilities Cataloguing of the Harrison Parrott Collection (HPC). Creating a timeline/history of Jasper Parrott’s working life, which will also involve sorting and cataloguing about 15 years’ worth of concert programmes/important meetings notes. To support the work on the Harrison Parrott Collection by receiving, identifying and processing materials. To digitise documents for the Harrison Parrott collection. To carry out any necessary administrative tasks in relation to the post. To undertake any other duties commensurate with the post that may reasonably be required. Person specification Skills and Experience Essential: Solid organisation skills with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail. Experience (be it in training) of working within an archive. Experience of (be it in training) working with databases. Experience (be it in training) of cataloguing to recognised standards. Experience of (be it in training) conducting research in private and public archives. Excellent IT skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office packages. Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team and to work in a flexible way. Desirable: A good knowledge of and active interest in classical music. Educated to undergraduate degree level
