A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Havering is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work closely with pupils across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 who have a diagnosis of ASD. This is a full-time, term-time role starting in September 2025, ideal for someone who is enthusiastic, patient, and ready to make a lasting impact.
About the Role:
You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to provide personalised support to pupils with ASD. This role involves helping students access the curriculum, regulating behaviour, developing social communication skills, and ensuring they feel safe and valued in the learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils with autism
• Assist with implementing EHCPs and individual behaviour plans
• Support classroom activities and adapt materials to meet individual needs
• Foster a nurturing, structured and consistent learning space
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure holistic support
Requirements
• Experience supporting children with ASD or other complex needs
• Knowledge of autism-friendly strategies and behaviour support techniques
• Calm, empathetic and resilient under pressure
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A genuine passion for inclusive education and SEN support
