Overview
Apply for the Staff Nurse RMN/RNLD role at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust.
About the Unit
Join Twynham Low Secure Forensic Unit, where we offer exciting opportunities for development in RMN and RNLD posts. Our goal is to provide learning support, mentorship and supervision to enable you to become a band 6 nurse within an inpatient setting.
The unit is part of the multidisciplinary Dorset Forensic Services, which includes Nurses, Psychiatrists, Doctors, Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Social Workers, Occupational Therapy Assistants, Mental Health Support Workers and Administrators.
In this role you will work closely with all disciplines to assist and coordinate patient care packages aimed at recovery and supporting transition into the community. You will collaborate with other Nurses, Clinical Leads, Ward Manager, Service Manager and other disciplines, receiving regular supervision and training opportunities both internally and externally.
Key Requirements
* Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service may present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
* Completion of a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course is a condition of employment. Failure to achieve this will preclude commencement of the post.
Development Programme
We have designed a programme to support your development within the inpatient setting, starting as a band 5 role with the view to progressing to a band 6 position. The competencies are tailored to ensure you gain the knowledge and experience needed to perform your duties competently and confidently.
Newly qualified nurses will have access to a fully structured preceptorship and bespoke CPD opportunities. The programme is expected to be completed within 12 months of commencing the post, though earlier completion may lead to earlier progression to band 6.
Working Hours
This is a full‑time position, 37.5 hours per week, although part‑time options will be considered.
Eligibility
Applications from candidates who require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are unfortunately ineligible for this position.
