Overview

Apprentice Social Care Advisor to work within The Gateway to Care Team at Calderdale Metropolitan Borough Council. We are the first point of contact, providing help and advice with compassion, empathy and kindness to enable people to live their best life.

The role focuses on listening to what people are telling us, understanding their wishes and feelings about what matters in terms of what a good life looks like to them. You will draw on the person’s strengths, informal networks and community assets to meet their requirements and aspirations. You will respond promptly, support independence, work to bring about stability, and help people maintain control of their life and remain connected to their community. The work is challenging and rewarding, with no two days the same.


What we are looking for

* Ability to relate to people – Direct contact with people over the telephone. Develop a trusting relationship quickly with a kind, empathetic and friendly approach while working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Customer Service.
* Resourcefulness and creativity – Recognise that formal services are not always solutions. Be resourceful and creative, drawing on the strengths of our people and community assets to problem solve and meet requirements. Be confident to challenge the status quo where needed.
* Adult Social Care Knowledge – Some experience and knowledge of adult social care. Lived or working experience may be relevant. A care worker or similar role can provide a strong foundation for the apprenticeship.
* Values driven – Align with our values of dignity, diversity and independence, and engage in least intrusive, best-interest approaches for people we serve.

Opportunities for Personal and Service Development – You will work towards a Level 3 Customer Service Diploma as part of your apprenticeship. The organisation provides monthly supervision, quarterly shared conversations, and various developmental training opportunities, including trainee on-the-job apprenticeships. You will have opportunities to contribute and implement ideas for service development.

Apprenticeship Entry Requirements:

* Be aged 16 or older at the start of the apprenticeship.
* Be a UK citizen or have proof of right to work in the UK. If not UK/EEA citizen, must have resided in the UK for the last 3 years.
* Meet the essential qualification criteria in the role profile and provide original qualification certificates at interview.
* Do not already hold a qualification at the same or higher level in the same or closely related field to the apprenticeship. It must be unrelated in subject and content from the qualifications already held.
