The Guild Lounge is Preston’s newest entertainment venue: a 350-seat, 500-standing-capacity space in the heart of the city centre. Its programme features a wide range of commercial touring shows, including comedy, live music, theatre, family entertainment, and performances by local groups. Visitors can also enjoy a high-quality theatre experience, complete with a full bar overlooking the historic Harris and Crown Courts.
Preston City Council’s Cultural Service is now seeking a dynamic Technical Manager with excellent stage and technical expertise to play a leading role in establishing this new studio theatre and overseeing all technical aspects of the venue.
As Technical Manager, you will lead all aspects of the Technical Department, ensuring the highest standards across technical delivery, facilities management, and health and safety. You will manage the day-to-day technical operations of the Guild Lounge, putting effective systems in place so that every performance is professionally prepared, all regulatory requirements are met, and all equipment is properly maintained and fit for purpose.
You will support performances, workshops, and events to ensure they run smoothly from a technical perspective, including carrying out pre- and post-show administrative duties, helping to create an excellent experience for visiting companies and audiences alike.
This is a critical role in helping the Guild Lounge establish and grow as a leading venue. You will work closely with the Guild Lounge General Manager to help shape and deliver this transformation.
Preston has a dynamic and growing independent cultural sector, including artist-led studios, youth-led arts organisations, place-making experts, and innovative community initiatives. The city is fast becoming a focal point for arts, culture, and leisure, with a bold and transformational approach emerging around culture-led regeneration in the Harris Quarter — the cultural and civic heart of the city centre. Culture is set to become a key catalyst for change in Preston, with the Guild Lounge at the heart of the new Harris Quarter.
