Using technology to drive real and meaningful change. Capital One is a technology-focused company where you can build a career in technology that makes a positive difference for customers, colleagues and the community.
What you’ll do
During the Graduate programme you will rotate into three different core tech teams to gain broad experience and identify areas to focus on. Rotations may include:
* Working on customer experience and journeys across apps and website, creating backend APIs alongside Services teams.
* Ensuring system stability and reliability within Site Reliability teams.
* Working with Data Engineering to ensure stored information is safe, secure and readily accessible.
* Supporting Cloud teams during the migration to AWS.
You may have the option to rotate outside of tech after the first rotation if other areas are of interest. Training, such as our Quality Academy, equips you with tools to drive your development and ours.
We provide a supportive environment with a manager, mentor and buddy. Our graduates have a track record of development and progression.
What you’ll need
We understand this may be your first role. We don’t mind what degree background or grades you have, but we want to see:
* Good foundation of coding skills (in any language).
* Flexibility and aptitude to learn many tools and technologies.
* Approach to coding and problem-solving.
* Communication and collaboration skills.
* Enthusiasm about tech and Capital One.
The Recruitment Process
1. Step 1: Apply. We don’t screen CVs or require a cover letter. If you meet eligibility, you’ll be sent online testing to assess core skills.
2. Step 2: One-way video interview to explore motivations for the role and soft skills.
3. Step 3: Assessment day with two tech team members, including a paired programming exercise and a strengths-based interview, plus a presentation.
4. Step 4: Final interview with a Senior Software Manager (in person) to learn more about life as a grad and to see the office.
What’s in it for you?
* Outstanding learning and career development through Capital One UK training programmes and external providers.
* Core benefits including a pension, bonus, generous holidays, private medical insurance; flexible benefits such as season-ticket loans and a cycle-to-work scheme.
