Overview
Honeywell Worcestershire, United Kingdom is hiring a Manufacturing/Process Engineer to join the Redditch site. This role offers the opportunity to broaden technical skills in an interesting area of engineering and become a key member of the engineering team. Redditch site onsite work schedule (flexible).
The Redditch site specializes in the design, development, and manufacture of components for small-scale cooling infrared devices used in guided weapons and thermal imaging systems, high pressure actuation systems, and satellite cryogenic systems. Many programs are for space/military markets where reliability and sound manufacturing practice are essential. The successful candidate will slot into the team as a production resource to resolve production issues and take engineering ownership of product lines to resolve issues and improve line performance.
Responsibilities
* Become a first-line technical resource in JT cooler function and manufacture; understand the manufacturing processes involved and learn how a JT cooler works on a technical level to assess failure modes. Training will be provided; willingness to learn and a fair degree of technical acumen are required.
* Support the production organization as a primary point of contact for line issues.
* Be responsible for areas such as production issue resolution, Root Cause Corrective Action reviews, concessions/waivers/deviations, equipment maintenance and support.
* Support the quality organization in resolution of hardware non-conformities.
* Contribute to the broader engineering team with manufacturing advice, producibility considerations, and input to early design concepts.
Experience / Qualifications
* Broad engineering skills; understanding of engineering processes across multiple areas. Knowledge of assembly/test techniques for small mechanical assemblies is advantageous; machining experience is advantageous.
* Proven ability to interact with and build good relationships across all levels of the organization, from senior management to shop floor and engineering staff.
* Proven ability to resolve production issues.
* Experience with standard DFMEA/PFMEA is essential.
* Welding experience (EB, TIG, Laser) is advantageous but not essential.
* Good oral and written communication skills.
* Knowledge and success in implementing change; understanding of aerospace/defense configuration control is advantageous.
* B.A./B.Sc./B.Eng. and/or significant process engineering experience in an aerospace/defense environment.
* Design for Six Sigma / Lean Manufacturing experience advantageous.
