Overview

Sales Manager – Payroll Services is a strategic leadership role focused on driving growth, launching new service lines, and building a high-performing sales function. You will lead the expansion of our Payroll business, identifying and developing opportunities in key verticals such as CIS (Construction Industry Scheme), PEO (Professional Employer Organisation), Payroll Bureau, and Outsourced Payroll. This role requires someone with both strategic thinking and operational delivery capabilities—someone who can research and develop a market entry plan, build the team to deliver it, and oversee execution through to commercial success.


Responsibilities

* Build and Lead a Sales Team
o Recruit, hire, and onboard at least 4 dedicated payroll salespeople
o Establish a performance-focused culture with clear sales KPIs and individual targets
o Deliver training, coaching, and mentoring to help your team succeed
o Implement sales technology (e.g., CRM) and reporting processes
* Market Research & Strategic Development
o Conduct deep-dive research into:
o CIS Payroll Services
o PEO models
o Payroll Bureau opportunities
o Fully Outsourced Payroll services
o Identify customer pain points, competitors, pricing models, and regulatory needs
o Build a data-driven go-to-market strategy for each new payroll service
* Sales Execution & Revenue Generation
o Launch outbound sales campaigns based on research and validated strategy
o Oversee pipeline generation, lead nurturing, and opportunity conversion
o Collaborate with marketing for campaign development and brand positioning
o Track performance using CRM data, team dashboards, and monthly reporting
* Resources & Support
o Budget for recruitment, onboarding, and training
o CRM and sales tools to support prospecting and reporting
o Internal support from leadership and marketing
o Access to research tools and sector data
* Success Profile
o Launch and validate new payroll verticals with paying clients
o Build a strong and capable sales team from the ground up
o Establish a scalable sales infrastructure
o Drive performance through leadership, data, and accountability
o Become a key contributor to the wider company growth strategy

Requirements

Ideal Background & Skills

* 5+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in payroll, HR, or financial services
* Demonstrated success in building and leading sales teams
* Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Experience using CRM systems (e.g., HubSpot, Salesforce)
* Entrepreneurial mindset and a bias for execution
