I'm currently supporting a well-established organisation with the appointment of an Accounts Assistant to join their finance team. This is a great opportunity for someone early in their finance career to gain broad, hands-on exposure while supporting an experienced Finance Manager.
The role offers a varied workload across transactional finance, reconciliations, and day-to-day accounts support, making it ideal for someone looking to build on existing experience in a structured and supportive environment.
Key responsibilities will include:
1. Supporting the day-to-day operation of the accounting system
2. Processing daily banking activities
3. Assisting with reconciliations, ensuring they are completed accurately and on time
4. Posting transactions across finance and internal systems
5. Raising invoices and supporting billing processes
6. Preparing internal transfer documentation
7. Supporting monthly billing cycles and submissions
8. Processing payments, including bank transfers
9. Managing purchase invoices and ensuring timely processing
10. Handling customer payments, including card transactions
11. Monitoring account balances and supporting account closures
12. Assisting with document and file archiving
13. Supporting credit control activities
14. Updating Excel spreadsheets for reporting and tracking purposes
15. Managing own workload effectively with minimal supervision
I'm keen to speak with candidates who:
16. Have at least 12 months' experience within an accounts or finance role
17. Possess a good understanding of basic accounting principles
18. Have experience with purchase and sales ledger duties
19. Are confident with reconciliations
20. Have solid Excel skills (intermediate level preferred)
21. Are IT literate and comfortable using finance systems
22. Have strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy
