Service Charge Accountant | Property Industry | up to £50,000 (DOE) + study support
Are you experienced in service charge accounting and looking for a role where you can take real ownership of your work? This position offers the chance to join a respected property business, working closely with in-house property managers and the finance team to deliver accurate service charge budgets, year-end accounts, and insurance reporting.
You’ll be the go-to person for all things service charge – managing budgets from start to finish, preparing reconciliations, and ensuring key property and lease information is maintained accurately. The role also includes overseeing the company’s property insurance process and supporting the Financial Controller with wider finance activities.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and review annual commercial service charge budgets and year-end accounts.
* Work collaboratively with property managers to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
* Reconcile expenditure, maintain reserve accounts, and manage service charge management fee billing.
* Enter and maintain property and lease information on the management system.
* Manage the annual renewal and allocation of property and insurance costs, including claims tracking.
* Support with quarterly management accounts and finance reporting where required.
Qualifications
* Proven experience preparing commercial service charge budgets and reconciliations.
* Accounting qualification (part-qualified or fully qualified – ACA / ACCA / CIMA).
* Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
* Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach.
* Confident using Excel and accounting systems.
* Previous experience in a property or real estate environment.
* Exposure to insurance coordination and property management systems.
* An interest in improving manual processes and driving efficiency.
