An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Director-level Cost Management professional to lead and grow a high-performing commercial team in the West Midlands.
This role sits within a well-established, multi-disciplinary consultancy delivering some of the UK’s most complex and high-profile projects. With a strong pipeline across residential and wider private sector developments, this is a key leadership position with both delivery and strategic growth responsibilities.
Reporting directly to the Regional Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the regional offering—leading teams, driving performance, and acting as a trusted advisor to clients across major programmes.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and develop a team of Cost Managers across the West Midlands
* Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of major projects (typically £50m+)
* Act as Employer’s Agent and/or Contract Administrator across a range of sectors including residential, advanced manufacturing, aviation, and private sector developments
* Provide leadership across all aspects of Cost Management, ensuring technical excellence and consistency
* Develop and manage cost plans for complex projects, utilising CostX or similar software
* Advise design teams and clients on cost implications of design and procurement strategies
* Lead value engineering sessions, risk workshops, and strategic cost advisory engagements
* Oversee monthly financial reporting, including P&L responsibility
* Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, contractors, and internal stakeholders
* Support business development, work winning, and regional growth strategy
* Mentor and support the professional development of team members
Requirements
* Proven experience operating at Associate Director / Director level within a consultancy environment
* Strong background delivering major projects (£50m+) across residential or mixed-use sectors
* Demonstrable leadership experience managing and growing high-performing teams
* Expertise in cost management across the full project lifecycle
* Experience with NEC3/4 and/or JCT forms of contract
* Proficiency in CostX or similar estimating tools (experience with Revit models advantageous)
* Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage at senior level
* Professional membership (RICS, CIOB) or equivalent experience
* Collaborative mindset with the ability to operate within multi-disciplinary teams
* Full UK driving licence
* Willingness to undergo SC level security clearance
