Mechanical Engineer - Building Services

Overview
A global multidisciplinary consultancy is expanding its Mechanical Building Services team across Exeter and Plymouth due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of secured UK and international projects.
The role sits within a multidisciplinary team delivering mechanical engineering solutions across defence, infrastructure, healthcare, education, commercial and secure environments.
This is a design-focused position supporting full lifecycle delivery from concept design through to construction.
Key Responsibilities
* Support mechanical building services design across RIBA Stages 0-7
* Assist in the design of HVAC systems including heating, cooling, ventilation and associated plant
* Undertake engineering calculations including heat loss/gain, pipe sizing and airflow calculations
* Produce drawings, specifications, reports and technical documentation using Revit and AutoCAD
* Work within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
* Support coordination with electrical, structural and architectural disciplines
* Attend design meetings and assist in technical problem solving
* Support sustainable and low‑carbon design strategies
* Assist with site inspections and construction phase support
Requirements
* Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering
* 2-3 years' experience in building services design (consultancy preferred)
* Understanding of HVAC systems and UK construction standards
* Revit / BIM experience advantageous
* Strong communication and willingness to develop
* Security Clearance eligibility beneficial due to defence workload
