Overview
Care in Mind provide residential services for young people aged 16-30 years old. The young people we care for often require a high level of support to assist with difficulties they may have from self-harming, behaviour, and emotional difficulties. Our aim is to support the young people using a therapeutic approach to help them achieve their individual goals, in preparation for transition to adult life.
The role of a floating waking night support worker is to work across the Care in Mind portfolio of services covering Cheshire, Stockport, Bury and Bolton. You must have a full UK driving licence with access to a car. The role involves night shifts (including weekends and bank holidays) and travel between sites. Previous care experience is desirable but full training will be provided. A supportive team will provide ongoing mentoring from our residential and clinical teams.
Responsibilities
* Work across the Care in Mind portfolio of services (Cheshire, Stockport, Bury and Bolton) as a floating waking night support worker.
* Update online care records and complete medication administration.
* Promote independence in young people by supporting education, household tasks and general life skills.
* Ensure the general upkeep and tidiness of the home to maintain a safe, homely environment.
* Undertake a wide range of duties involving direct and indirect care of young people with complex mental health needs, in accordance with Care in Mind policies and procedures.
* Maintain professional boundaries and the ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations.
Responsibilities – Additional Information
* You will need to attend training throughout employment, which will be held on weekdays.
* You may be required to work night shifts and weekends including bank holidays.
Qualifications
* Desirable: NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care.
* Previous experience of working with young people who have mental health needs is desirable.
* Good written skills and the ability to write basic reports and record information accurately.
* Basic IT skills (computer work, completing forms, using an online care system, and writing emails).
* Good verbal communication skills and the ability to listen to others.
* An ability to maintain professional working boundaries.
* Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations.
* Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car.
Hours, Location & Salary
* Hub Based with travel to the Care in Mind portfolio – Cheshire, covering Stockport, Bury and Bolton.
* Full Time 38.5 hours per week.
* Salary: £29,889.86 – £32,032 per annum, dependent on experience plus mileage paid from local hub.
* Location: Cheshire area with remote travel between portfolio sites.
