Overview
Rikama Education are working with a mainstream primary school, based in Dover who are looking to recruit a SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a verbal Year 2 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), ensuring they can access learning, participate fully in school life, and develop both academically and socially within an inclusive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide tailored 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with ASD, adapting strategies to meet individual needs.
* Assist with classroom activities, ensuring the pupil remains engaged, focused, and supported in their learning.
* Implement personalised strategies to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social interaction.
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver targeted interventions and support the pupil's individual education plan (IEP).
* Encourage independence while offering reassurance and guidance when needed.
* Support the development of communication, social skills, and peer relationships.
* Monitor and record progress, providing regular feedback to teaching staff and parents.
* Collaborate with external professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists) to implement specialist advice and strategies.
* Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Contract and Working Arrangements
This is a full time position, due to start ASAP. Working Monday - Friday, 8:30 - 3:30. The position will be until October half term, possibly longer for the right candidate.
