Are you practical, reliable, and ready to make a visible difference in your community? We're seeking a Street Scene Operative to support environmental services across the borough. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who enjoys working outdoors and contributing to cleaner, safer public spaces.
Job Role: Street Scene Operative
Location: Darlington
Contract Type: Temporary - 2 months (with likely extension)
Pay Rate: £12.85 per hour (PAYE)
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week (working 07.30 to 15.30 Monday to Thursday 07.30 to 15.00 on a Friday)
Key Responsibilities:
Emptying litter and dog waste bins across designated routes.
Clearing back lanes and public areas of waste, debris and leaves.
Providing rapid response to issues such as fly tipping and dog fouling.
Operating equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
Supporting general grounds maintenance and street cleansing tasks.
Engaging courteously with members of the public when required.Requirements:
Ability to carry out manual handling and physical outdoor work.
Experience using relevant tools and equipment (training provided if needed).
Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
Willingness to work in varying weather conditions.
A full UK driving licence is desirable but not essential.What's on Offer:
