Responsibilities


Leading our Maintenance team at our Tubex site the Engineering Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the Maintenance team and their activities along with a certain level of operations responsibility. These activities include facilities, optimizing equipment reliability, projects and cost performance through continuous improvement and data analysis.

They play an important role on BEX projects, Engineering and operations. Planning is essential to deliver projects in a timely and structured manor along with keeping cost in control whilst developing own methods, systems and strategies to oversee the safe optimization of operations using world class operating practices

1. First and foremost, it is the responsibility of the incumbent to perform any and all tasks in a safe manner, keeping in mind safety on the job at all times. It is expected that the incumbent will not only practice safety on the job, but will be responsible for the safety of others working in and around the maintenance area, operations or on maintenance related tasks.
2. Responsible for Maintenance area 5S standards and must drive clean as you go ethos within the department.
3. Responsible for ensuring one's own and departmental SOP's, risk assessments, and skills matrix are up-to-date, current and adhered to.
4. Monitor, implement and drives to improve all maintenance staff KPI's.
5. Monitors and ensures efficient and effective working of team members. Increasing performance by coaching and advice.
6. Responsible for contractor control ensuring RAMS are received and reviewed along with carrying out contractor inductions.
7. Works alongside other departments to priorities work based on business needs, and arrange process improvements.
8. Responsible for ensuring that all statutory inspections are completed on-time.
9. Plays a key part in tracking the allocation of the CAPEX and working within maintenance budgets with a view of minimising spend whilst maximising efficiencies.
10. Responsible for the upkeep of the facilities and the ancillary services
11. Balances the needs of preventive maintenance routines and reactive maintenance with an overarching view of working towards a predictive maintenance culture.
12. Promotes and generates improvement ideas and takes responsibility to complete on time and budget whilst engaging operation teams.
13. Creatively promotes and generates improvement ideas, develop funding strategies that enables optimizing equipment functioning.
14. Supports TPM as operating basis for the operation of the department as well as supporting the shop floor in the implementation of PM routines.
15. Maintains the maintenance stores to support operational needs while managing inventory and spending to target

Competancies

16. Knowledge of mechanical, electrical systems, electronic drives and controls.
17. Knowledge of Preventative and predictive maintenance tools.
18. Basic computer software skills i.e. MS Office
19. Ability to read and interpret maintenance documents i.e. electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic diagrams
20. An understanding of engineering regulations.
21. Awareness of project and operations management.
22. Proficient in managing budgetary spending control.
23. Team Oriented and Interpersonal Skills – Has the ability to work effectively with other plant employees or external groups to achieve required objectives and goals.
24. Leadership – Has strong personal accountability to achieve goals and develops this accountability in others by giving candid and constructive feedback.
25. Initiative – Has the ability to identify key plant issues, develop a workable solution from data and working with others, sells his/her solution and implements the solution.
26. Credibility – Does not blame others and takes responsibility for his/her own mistakes. Respects confidential information and concerns shared by others. Finishes work and reports on time and effectively utilises data to support positions.
27. Continuous Improvement – Has self-management skills and motivation to continuously improve the process, people, equipment, raw materials and self. Can adapt and transfer new methods and ideas to situations to maximize positive results.
28. Communication – Presents ideas/facts clearly and concisely in oral and written formats. Listens well and asks the right questions. Can effectively deliver a speech, presentation or other communication to customers, operators, or management.
29. Results oriented – works alongside the Operations Manager to deliver on key success areas of the business plan. Takes corrective action, anticipates issues and sets contingency plans and stands in for the operations manager when required.
30. Analytical Problem Solving – Can understand which data is relevant to develop solutions and options.


Qualifications


Education (Degree/Major)

5 or more years of Engineering leadership experience, numerous engineering courses followed. Apprentice trained.

Certifications

HNC in electrical / mechanical or equivalent engineering certification

Work Experience

5 years of related experience in maintenance, process, or project roles, and had at least 2-3 years' experience in a Supervisory role and operations experience.
