This is a full-time, shift-based position for a Commissioning Shift Team Leader / Commissioning Supervisor at a new-build Energy from Waste (EfW) facility in Essex. The role focuses on the safe and efficient commissioning of power systems and plant operations.
The successful candidate will lead a team of Operators during the commissioning phase, ensuring all systems are safely brought online, optimized, and transitioned into full commercial operation. You will serve as a key contact for technical troubleshooting, performance monitoring, and implementing best practices across the plant.
Role & Responsibilities
1. Lead and supervise a team of Control Room and Field Operators during plant commissioning and early operations.
2. Oversee start-up, testing, and optimization of boilers, turbines, flue gas treatment, and auxiliary systems.
3. Monitor plant performance through the DCS/SCADA system, ensuring operational targets and safety standards are met.
4. Take responsibility for safe system isolation, permit to work, and lockout/tagout procedures.
5. Work closely with the Commissioning Manager and contractors to resolve issues and achieve key project milestones.
6. Ensure all commissioning activities comply with environmental, health, & safety regulations.
7. Maintain clear and accurate shift logs, records, and reports on commissioning progress and plant status.
