Head of FP&A Financial Planning and Analysis

You must meet all the ‘essential criteria’ and reside within a commutable distance, as this is a FULL-TIME, OFFICE-BASED ROLE.

Company details and job overview:

Based on the outskirts of Newcastle-under-Lyme, this multi-site operation has experienced exponential growth over five years and remains a leader in their field. Operating within a regulated environment from state-of-the-art offices, they currently have an interim 12-month requirement to cover maternity leave. As part of a commercially focused finance team, the role will support decision-making processes and lead on budgeting and forecasting across multiple sites. This is an office-based role with opportunities to add value as the business continues to thrive. A retention bonus is offered for completing the 12-month contract.

Your new role as FP&A Manager:

The FP&A Manager is a key financial role responsible for overseeing financial planning and analysis activities within a multi-site operation. The role requires expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning. The FP&A Manager will work closely with senior management, department heads, and stakeholders to provide valuable financial insights, support informed decision-making, and ensure financial goals are met across all locations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial Planning and Analysis: Develop and implement comprehensive financial planning and analysis processes across multiple sites, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial modeling to support strategic planning and decision-making.
2. Budgeting and Forecasting: Lead the annual budgeting process, collaborating with department heads and site managers to set financial targets and objectives. Monitor and analyze budget-to-actual variances, identify trends, and provide insights to improve financial performance.
3. Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for each site, including monthly, quarterly, and annual statements. Communicate results to senior management, highlighting key findings and recommendations.
4. Performance Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis for each site, assessing KPIs and financial metrics. Identify strengths and weaknesses, develop insights, and collaborate on performance improvement initiatives.
5. Strategic Planning: Contribute to long-term strategic plans, evaluate investment opportunities, assess risks, and advise senior management on financial implications.
6. Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with site managers and stakeholders to gather financial data, foster strong relationships, and act as a trusted financial advisor.
7. Process Enhancement: Continuously improve financial planning and analysis processes, tools, and methodologies, staying updated on industry best practices.
8. Compliance and Legal Considerations: Ensure adherence to financial regulations, legal requirements, and industry standards, providing guidance on compliance.
9. Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop the FP&A team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing environment.

Experience & Qualifications:

Qualified with proven experience in a lead FP&A role, preferably in a multi-site or professional services environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights. Proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and budgeting, with excellent knowledge of financial reporting standards and compliance. Advanced skills in financial software and tools, such as ERP systems and spreadsheets. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
