ROLE:
Our client is open to candidates from consultancy or those already employed by a main contractor. They are not expecting candidates to be fully experienced but are open to transferable skills with training and support provided if needed. As part of the growing in-house geotechnical team, you will support geotechnical problems and earthworks on various projects in both building and civil engineering sectors. You will liaise with external design consultants, advise site teams, and provide value engineering solutions.
DUTIES:
As a Geotechnical Advisor, your duties will include:
* Providing technical support to project teams regarding geotechnical requirements on live projects
* Assisting in Earthworks procurement and reviewing Earthworks Specifications, Strategies, and Plans
* On-site testing, site investigations (procurement and observations)
* Validation of earthwork strategies, providing Geotechnical Risk Registers and assessments
* Supporting the Design Team as needed
* Liaising with external Geotechnical Engineers, Clients, and Subcontractors
* Resolving issues arising during or after construction
(Please note this is more of a design management / project management / coordination & advisory role, not a hands-on designer position, but candidates with design engineering experience are welcome.)
REQUIREMENTS:
* Knowledge of Building and/or Civil Engineering sectors
* Previous employment as a Geotechnical Engineer, Design Engineer, Civil Engineer, Geo-Environmental Consultant, Geotechnical Advisor, or Design Manager
* Strong background in Foundation Design/Geotechnics
* Experience in a main contractor environment preferred but not essential
* Candidates from consultancy or subcontractor backgrounds will also be considered
* Relevant industry qualifications (Degree / HND / HNC, etc.)
* Experience with Earthworks or Slope stability projects ideal
* Experience in Earthworks supervision advantageous
LOCATION:
The role involves a mix of remote work and site visits across nationwide locations. Flexibility to travel is required. Candidates based in the Midlands are preferred, but remote candidates willing to travel are also considered.
