Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust seeks a Consultant in Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) surgery with Emergency General Surgery to join a newly developed Emergency General Surgery service at the Royal Liverpool Hospital. The role will support established pancreatobiliary, oesophagogastric, and colorectal teams, and contribute to the larger general surgical team. The successful candidate will be part of the general surgery on‑call rota and will help meet waiting list targets and shape the evolving Emergency Surgery (EGS) model.
Responsibilities
* Full and continuing responsibility for patient care, including all administrative duties.
* Leadership, development, and organization of services in line with Business Plans.
* Collaboration with lead clinicians, senior management, and multidisciplinary teams.
* Developing interests and sub‑specialties within the specialty with approval from Clinical Lead and Service Director, including participation in research programmes.
* Professional management of doctors in training.
* Ensuring appropriate coverage to minimize impact on clinics and lists during leave.
