Job description
Our client, a prominent player in the Energy sector, is seeking a Principal Materials & Corrosion Engineer for a contract position based in Manchester or Aberdeen. This role involves working on a Carbon Capture & Storage project on the East Coast of the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Acting as the client focal point for all material-related activities and technical queries for BP's NEP/NZT Projects
2. Providing guidance and advice on material issues and corrosion problems
3. Preparing engineering documentation related to material selection, cathodic protection, and coatings
4. Preparing Material Selection Reports/Philosophies and Material Selection Diagrams (MSD's)
5. Developing Corrosion Control, Corrosion Monitoring, and Cathodic Protection Philosophies
6. Creating Cathodic Protection design reports, drawings, and Material Take Offs (MTOs)
7. Supporting Asset Integrity Plans, Corrosion Management, and Corrosion Risk Assessments
8. Estimating manhours, creating deliverable lists, and drafting technical write-ups for projects and proposals
9. Reviewing procedures, reports, and drawings submitted by Suppliers
10. Supporting procurement activities related to cathodic protection materials
11. Assisting with on-site activities as necessary
12. Championing Sustainability, Safety, Health, and Environment by prioritising personal safety and wellbeing
Job Requirements:
13. Significant experience in a similar role on FEED & EPC projects for onshore brownfield oil & gas facilities, gas pipelines, and energy transition projects
14. Extensive knowledge in materials and corrosion engineering
15. Proficiency in preparing and reviewing materials and corrosion-related documentation
16. Strong understanding of corrosion control and cathodic protection methodologies
17. Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
18. Capability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
19. Relevant engineering degree or equivalent qualification
