Consultant Ophthalmologist with subspecialty interest in Glaucoma
Job Summary
The Trust provides Ophthalmology outpatient services at Oldham Integrated Care Centre, Rochdale Infirmary and Fairfield General Hospital, with day‑case surgical activity primarily at Rochdale Infirmary. The post requires cross‑site work, delivering clinics from different sites and performing surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
* Lead and develop ophthalmic subspecialty work, with a focus on Glaucoma management.
* Provide outpatient clinics across multiple sites.
* Perform day‑case surgical activity at Rochdale Infirmary.
* Participate in service development, audit and research initiatives.
Qualifications
* FRCOphth or equivalent evidence of training and experience.
* Registration on the GMC Specialist Register – CCT or within 6 months.
* Extensive experience in Ophthalmology, particularly Glaucoma management.
* Strong understanding of Clinical Governance and a record of audit work.
* Proven ability to build and maintain effective teams; leadership skills.
* Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
* Experience teaching juniors, medical students and other health professionals.
Desirable
* Postgraduate degree (MD, PhD, MSc).
* Evidence of accredited supervision and research publications.
* Attendance at management and teaching courses.
Contract Details
* Fixed term 12 months, full‑time.
* Salary £109,725 to £145,478 per annum.
* Certificate of Sponsorship available for skilled‑worker sponsors.
