We are seeking a passionate Outdoor Education Teacher to join our specialist SEMH provision in Blackpool for an Easter 2026 start. This role is designed for a teacher or instructor who can lead a small cohort of students with complex Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. You will deliver a curriculum rooted in kinesthetic, nature-based learning to re-engage young people who have struggled in mainstream settings. Key Responsibilities Outdoor Lesson Delivery: Design and lead engaging sessions including bushcraft, orienteering, horticulture, and environmental science. Therapeutic Intervention: Use the outdoor environment as a "calm zone" to support students in regulating their emotions and building self-esteem. EHCP Progress: Track and report on student development against their Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets. Behaviour Management: Apply trauma-informed de-escalation techniques (Team Teach or PACE) to maintain a safe and positive learning atmosphere. Transition Support: Bridge the gap between outdoor activities and classroom-based reflections to ensure holistic academic progress. Candidate Requirements Expertise: Proven experience working with "at-risk" youth or students with ASC, ADHD, and SEMH needs. Qualifications: QTS/QTLS is preferred, but we highly value unqualified instructors with significant outdoor leadership (Forest School Level 3/Mountain Training) and SEN experience. Resilience: The "Blackpool Grit"-the ability to stay positive and professional in all Lancashire weather and through challenging student behaviours. Commitment: Available for a full-time start in April 2026 with a desire to move into a permanent role. Why Choose This Blackpool Provision? Immediate Impact: Join a team where your creativity and autonomy are valued over "box-ticking." Stable Career Path: This is a Temp-to-Perm role; we use the Summer Term as a "fit" period before offering a permanent contract for the new academic year. Training: Fully funded CPD in de-escalation, first aid, and mental health support. How to Apply We are looking to hold trial days immediately to secure our Easter appointment.
