Job Description

The Technical Services Team are looking for someone to lead the future of Environmental Sciences technical provision at Brunel. We’re seeking a Principal Technical Manager to lead the operation, development and innovation of our Environmental Sciences laboratories and facilities. Spanning pollution research laboratories, tissue culture, environmental monitoring and analytical chemistry, this is a complex, cross‑disciplinary technical environment supporting world‑class teaching and research reflecting Brunel’s identity as a technically focused, applied university.

What You’ll Lead

* A skilled technical team delivering high-quality support to staff, students and researchers.
* The safe, compliant and efficient operation of a diverse portfolio of laboratories, equipment and specialist facilities.
* The ongoing development of technical capability, driving continuous improvement across systems, processes and services.


What You’ll Bring

* Significant technical experience, gained over a number of years, in Environmental Sciences or a closely related field, alongside demonstrable leadership of teams and operations.
* Confidence managing complex, regulated environments, with the authority and judgement to lead independently and make informed decisions.
* A proactive and collaborative approach, with the ability to influence stakeholders, drive innovation and maintain high standards across a broad technical landscape.
