The Emergency Services Network (ESN) is a strategic priority for BT, aiming to be one of the most advanced Emergency Services Networks globally. BT is the official supplier providing mission-critical and trusted communications for Britain’s Emergency Services. ESN will replace the existing Airwave network, building upon EE’s 4G network to deliver essential voice, data, and critical communication services to 300,000 frontline emergency service members.
The Mobile Test & Innovations Labs team designs, builds, tests, and delivers converged Mobile and Fixed network services. As a member of this team, you will ensure the effective use of EE Labs environments, contribute to developing new services, and refine existing ones to enhance customer experience and network leadership.
The successful candidate must be cleared to BPSS (or equivalent) at minimum, with potential requirement for National Security Vetting (e.g., CTC, SC, or NPPV).
What you’ll be doing
1. Own and be accountable for building, operating, and maintaining policy core platforms in our innovation labs, including inputting to delivery plans and platform integration.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional mobile teams such as Design, Operations, Development, and Quality Assurance. Lead technical discussions and investigations across mobile core networks.
3. Manage incidents, changes, problems, risks, and vulnerabilities. Trace network issues and investigate data flows using tools like CNOM, Wireshark, and NetScout.
4. Align Test Environments with the live EE network and work with other business units and third parties to improve service performance, quality, and customer experience.
5. Drive continuous improvement by automating testing, design, and operational processes, leading configuration changes via CICD pipelines.

What we would like to see on your CV
* Experience in a technical role within a telco, managing cloud core platform support and maintenance, with deployment and testing of new features.
* Expertise in Cloud Native Core, Policy Control Function, Oracle CNCC, PCF, DbTier, OCCNE, OSS tools, and tracing systems (e.g., CNOM, Wireshark, Prometheus, Netscout).
* Proficiency in Ansible, Terraform, 5G/LTE architecture, protocols such as BGP, PFCP, GTPv2, Diameter, SIP, Kubernetes, Linux, Python, and Automation CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of network security vulnerabilities and firewall implementations.
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with a good understanding of end-to-end mobile services, Network Cloud, IP, and transport capabilities.
* Proven experience in automation to improve reliability and reduce repetitive tasks.
