The Role
Teaching Personnel are recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work in partner SEN schools in Barnstaple. These schools support children and young people with a wide range of additional needs, including ASD, SEMH, PMLD, complex needs, and primary/secondary SEN support.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a nurturing team, gain valuable classroom experience, and make a real difference to young people’s education and wellbeing.
Responsibilities
* Support students with special educational needs in class and during activities.
* Assist teachers with planning, resources and personalised learning strategies.
* Provide one-to-one and small group interventions to help learners progress.
* Adapt activities to meet individual needs and encourage engagement.
* Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
What We’re Looking For
* A genuine passion for working with young people with SEN, SEMH, ASD, or complex needs.
* Previous experience in schools, care or youth support (desirable but not essential).
* Strong communication, patience, and resilience.
* Commitment to safeguarding and willingness to complete training.
