Reading Borough Council has an ongoing maintenance program to ensure our housing stock meets high standards. Due to increased work for internal and external clients, Property Services is recruiting Repairs and Maintenance Inspectors to join the team.
We seek skilled, detail-oriented Repairs and Maintenance Inspectors responsible for inspecting, specifying, ordering, and supervising maintenance and repair works for our properties. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of building systems, construction techniques, and excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

About The Role
The role is based at our Bennet Road depot, 19 Bennet Road, Reading, RG2 0QX.
Provide comprehensive professional building repairs inspection services for day-to-day maintenance of properties, including Temporary Accommodation and Short Term Lets.
Duties Will Include
* Post-inspecting repairs undertaken by the council's directly employed workforce and contractors.
* Carrying out pre-inspections as required.
* Inspecting work within the Voids and Planned Team as needed.
* Managing conflicting priorities in a high-profile service.
* Liaising with Housing Officers and contractors regarding ongoing works.
* Consulting with tenants/residents on pre- and post-repair assessments.
About You
* Building construction qualification (minimum ONC/OND) with relevant experience or City & Guilds or equivalent in a recognized trade, or several years of site experience.
* Knowledge of statutory legislation and building contracts.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with tenants, colleagues, and contractors.
* Experience in budget monitoring and control.
* Strong organizational and time-management skills with keen attention to detail.
* Fault diagnosis experience.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
