The starting salary for these full-time, permanent roles is £36,873 per annum based on a 36 hour working week, plus on-call allowance. This role requires being able to deliver the legal duties required compassionately, whilst being personally and emotionally resilient when dealing with what may be difficult or traumatic situations. Key duties of a Coroner's Officer include: Being the single point of contact for bereaved families and providing them with regular updates Assisting the Coroner in their investigations and being part of the on-call rota that provides a 24/7, 365 day service Managing your own caseload from referral to inquest Working with other key stakeholders and partners, including doctors and pathologistsThis role is key to helping investigate where circumstances of a death may have been avoidable, and so help prevent that from happening in future. Shortlisting Criteria In order to be considered for shortlisting, your application will clearly evidence the following skills and align with our behaviours: Experience of working within a coronial service, the police, legal profession or other investigatory or regulatory profession Analytical ability to perform this investigation driven role Ability to provide high levels of customer care and professionalism to members of the public Ability to write well structured, clear and concise reports using information gathered from multiple sources (for example, from families, GPs, the police or other health professionals) Excellent IT skills and the ability to follow defined processes in a timely manner Ability to be part of an on-call rotaThis role requires travel across the county. The role holder will need to have the willingness and ability to travel around the county to meet the demands of the role.
