REGISTERED MANAGER – CHILDREN’S RESIDENTIAL HOME (SHEFFIELD)
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 + benefits

Hippo Staffing Solutions are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager / Residential Children’s Home Manager to lead a brand-new 5–6 bed Children’s Residential Home in Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity for an established Registered Manager who wants to shape a therapeutic, family-style environment for young people aged 11–16 and play a key role in the development of future homes and services.
As the Registered Manager, you will lead the full operational running of the home, ensure Ofsted compliance, manage and develop the staff team, and deliver exceptional child-centred care. We are searching for a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, understands safeguarding inside out, and is deeply committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable children.
Key Responsibilities (Registered Manager / Children’s Home Manager)
Operational Leadership & Home Management
*
Provide full operational leadership as the Registered Manager, ensuring the home meets all Ofsted requirements and Children’s Homes Regulations.
*
Manage the day-to-day running of the home, ensuring a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment.
*
Develop a positive, family-orientated ethos for children and young people.
*
Lead on care planning, behaviour support, safeguarding, and risk assessments.
Staff Leadership & Culture
*
Lead, motivate, and supervise a team of Deputy Managers, Seniors, and Support Workers.
*
Build a positive, high-performance culture within the home.
*
Oversee recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management.
*
Deliver regular reflective supervisions and appraisals.
Safeguarding & Compliance
*
Ensure the home is always fully compliant with legislation, Ofsted frameworks, and organisational policies.
*
Act as the Designated Safeguarding Lead within the residential home.
*
Prepare the service for Ofsted inspections and respond to recommendations effectively.
Care Planning, Support & Outcomes
*
Develop and review personalised care plans that meet each young person’s needs.
*
Ensure all children have access to education, health services, therapeutic support, and positive activities.
*
Support young people to develop life skills, emotional resilience, and independence.
Partnership Working
*
Work collaboratively with social workers, education providers, health teams, local authorities, and families.
*
Represent the home at professional meetings, reviews, and panels.
Financial & Resource Management
*
Manage the home’s budget, staffing rotas, and resources effectively.
*
Ensure safe staffing levels and consistent continuity of care.
Requirements – Registered Manager
*
Previous experience as a Registered Manager, Residential Children’s Home Manager, or Deputy Manager in a Children’s Home.
*
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (or working towards).
*
Strong safeguarding knowledge and Ofsted compliance experience.
*
Experience managing teams, rotas, budgets, and quality improvement systems.
*
