Payroll and Accounts Officer

Location: Head Office, Chesterfield
Contract: Fixed-Term Contract - 12 Months
Hours: Part Time Monday-Friday (25-30hrs per week)
Pay: £ 28,000-£30,000 per annum (pro-rata for part-time hours)
We are looking for a motivated and professional Payroll and Accounts Officer to integrate within our friendly accounts team. In this role, you will play a key role within the team to help ensure the smooth and efficient running of our finance operations.

* Mileage is paid at 48p per mile for the first 10,000 miles, 25p per mile thereafter

Key Responsibilities:
* Payroll Processing: Assisting with monthly payroll, including bonuses, overtime, and holiday pay.
* Compliance: Ensure accurate tax deductions, National Insurance, and pension contributions (auto-enrolment).
* Reporting: Prepare, reconcile, and submit RTI (Real Time Information) to HMRC and handle year-end procedures (P60, P11D).
* Accounts Support: Assist with accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and petty cash.
* Administration: Maintain accurate, confidential employee records.
* Query Resolution: Resolve staff queries regarding pay, deductions, and tax.
* Scanning, filing and maintaining financial and administrative documents in an organised and accessible manner.
* Entering data into internal systems and spreadsheets.
* Support the team with the implementation and development of new systems or processes.
* Retrieving and compiling financial data and reports as needed to support effective decision-making and ensure accurate record keeping.
* Any other reasonable administrative tasks to support the team and keep archiving and filing up to date.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Personal Qualities:
* Proven experience in payroll and accounts administrative roles.
* Up-to-date knowledge of UK payroll legislation, tax laws, and HMRC regulations.
* Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage,) and MS Excel.
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software / applications
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal
* Previous experience of working in a busy office environment
* Good organisational and time-management skills
* Must have an awareness of confidentiality
* Reliable and trustworthy and able to handle sensitive financial information
* Must be a team player and able to work effectively with colleagues and other departments
* Payroll and accounts qualifications desirable, or relevant experience.
