Not afraid of a challenge? We need committed, knowledgeable social workers to help us with our core mission – empowering and supporting people who need signposting, community support, or direct help from the Council.
During this difficult time, the Council Leadership has reaffirmed their support for our statutory functions, including Adult Social Care. We are clear on our priorities.
We have a stable team of Managers to support you, with low vacancy rates and a preference for permanent staff over agency workers. Our team includes a dedicated Training Officer supporting adult social care and a Consultant Social Worker acting as Deputy Principal Social Worker to support staff welfare and practice. We have recently upgraded our electronic recording system.
Experienced Social Worker
If you have some experience, perhaps just starting supervision or not feeling ready to deputize for a Manager, consider our Experienced Social Worker role. This position is primarily case work-focused with some light supervision, serving as a stepping stone for many or enabling more complex work without moving into management.
Working in Croydon
Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to team working, enthusiasm for sharing ideas, professionalism, creativity, and a drive to develop person-centred practice and problem-solving skills. Flexibility is essential in our rapidly changing public service environment. Our staff are friendly, with excellent transport links and support for remote working.
We offer opportunities for career progression, professional development, and a department-wide commitment to manageable caseloads (with NQSWs having caseloads at least 10% lower than the team average). Croydon Adult Services has a caseload limit structure to maintain viable workloads and support quality output, complemented by extensive learning, development, and career progression programs, including a strong ASYE scheme and post-qualification training.
