Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Lead a team of Material Control Supervisors across all sites to oversee material utilization in trailer and chassis production and assembly.
2. Develop and execute plans for material presentation, delivery, and management from receipt to shipment.
3. Collaborate with Supply Chain and Suppliers to implement Kanbans and lean methodologies for material management from supplier to assembly.
4. Establish storage plans at each site based on lean principles.
5. Implement best practices for systems and processes supporting inventory forecasting, purchasing, and material control.
6. Prepare customer delivery reports by analyzing data and trends, and communicate potential delays proactively.
7. Supervise production scheduling by monitoring inventory, tracking progress, and reviewing schedule-impacting factors.
8. Coordinate with quality, engineering, machining, and assembly teams to ensure 100% on-time delivery, addressing issues proactively.
9. Ensure inventory accuracy by managing an inventory control system in partnership with Finance, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions.
10. Work with management to develop and monitor the materials budget, analyze variances, and initiate corrective measures.
11. Participate in MRB and CAR meetings to resolve quality issues with internal and external resources.
12. Collaborate across departments to achieve cost reduction targets.
13. Maintain a safe work environment by adhering to environmental, health, and safety regulations and policies.
14. Attend scheduled hours reliably, maintain good attendance, and comply with company policies.
15. Foster team communication and collaboration.
16. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree in business, management, or related field.
2. APICS certification is a plus.
3. Minimum of 5 years progressive management experience in materials and logistics within a manufacturing environment.
4. Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies.
5. Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems, forecasting, and order policies.
6. Knowledge of line-side inventory, pull systems (Kanban), and supplier-managed inventory.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
8. Strong written and oral communication skills.
9. Knowledge of industry best practices and technology trends.
10. Skills in tools, processes, and metrics to optimize supplier value.
11. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional environment.
12. Excellent documentation and record-keeping skills.
13. Financial skills including cost modeling and analysis.
14. Ability to leverage metrics to improve supplier performance.
