Job Description

Service & Calibration Engineer

Gloucestershire / Castle Donington

c£32,000 + fully expensed car & 10% allowance

As demand for high‑confidence measurement continues to grow, Renishaw is expanding its calibration and verification capability to ensure customers achieve peak performance from their CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machines) and Equator‑X systems.

This will be a key, customer‑facing role at the heart of this mission. Primarily field‑based, you will work hands‑on at customer sites across the UK — with occasional international travel — carrying out service, maintenance, calibration, and verification on a range of metrology equipment.

In this role, you will ensure systems operate to the highest standards, meeting ISO 10360‑2/5 requirements and directly supporting Renishaw’s global reputation for metrology excellence, accuracy, and trust. Your work will have a visible impact on customer confidence, product quality, and manufacturing performance.

Renishaw will provide comprehensive training and structured on‑the‑job development, enabling you to build the skills and confidence required to work independently in the field. As your experience grows, there is clear potential for progression within the team, offering long‑term career development within a world‑leading engineering organisation.

1. Perform Service and maintenance to a high standard on CMMs and Equator‑X machines

2. Perform ISO 10360‑2 and ISO 10360‑5 verification and calibration on CMMs and Equator‑X machines, following approved Renishaw procedures

3. Set up, stabilise, and measure with calibrated artefacts (gauge blocks, step gauges, spheres, temperature sensors) in accordance with company processes.

4. Prepare and apply calibration labels, certificates, and documentation to customer equipment.

5. Conduct performance analysis, including error mapping using laser interferometers (XL‑80 / XM600).

6. Diagnose causes of verification failures and advise customers on corrective actions.

7. Support installation and commissioning teams where calibration expertise is required (e.g., post‑retrofit verification).

8. Maintain accurate calibration records, equipment logs and follow company calibration database processes.

Customer Interaction & Support

9. Provide expert guidance on calibration standards, measurement uncertainty, and machine performance.

10. Communicate test results clearly, ensuring customers understand compliance status and any follow‑up recommendations.

11. Deliver on‑site user guidance on maintaining machine performance and environmental best practices.

12. Represent Renishaw professionally, building strong customer relationships and trust.

Continuous Improvement & Feedback
