Engineering Manager

Our Client is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the site engineering function within a food manufacturing environment. This role is crucial in ensuring all plant, equipment, and facilities are maintained to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and food hygiene. The Engineering Manager will oversee planned and reactive maintenance, asset performance, and statutory compliance, while driving continuous improvement to support production efficiency and minimise downtime.
Day-to-day of the role:
* Actively ensure Engineering KPIs are met, including maintaining, fault finding, and repairing a variety of food processing and packaging machinery (electrical and mechanical) in a professional manner.
* Promote the safety culture across the site and proactively manage Health & Safety, GMP, and Quality standards across the team.
* Ensure the skills of the team are adequate to support operations, including training Process Operatives & Engineering team members, and generating any required Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
* Identify and deliver process/machine improvement action plans.
* Monitor performance and take action to rectify any areas that are not meeting requirements or targets.
* Proactively liaise with other departments to prevent or resolve problems.
* Ensure absence, disciplinary, and grievance interviews processes are handled in compliance with Company policies and procedures.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
* Time-served Engineer with proven experience in both electrical and mechanical disciplines, delivering service and maintenance of process handling and packaging equipment, preferably within the food industry.
* Excellent planning and organisation skills, both internally and with external teams as needed.
* An effective communicator who can lead and influence a team.
* A focus on continuous improvement, constantly reviewing all processes to ensure a focus on target-driven cost awareness.
* Flexible approach to working patterns, willing to participate in training/development/re-organisational activities as needs are identified.
