Overview
MDS UK Patient Support Group is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS), a rare blood cancer. The group provides patient meetings with specialist speakers, distributes information, offers support, and raises awareness among healthcare professionals and policymakers. MDS UK advocates for better treatment access and enhanced quality of life for patients and families. Collaborating with national and international organizations, the group is a co-founder of the MDS Alliance and an active member of the Blood Cancer Alliance and Cancer 52 groups. The organization relies solely on donations, fundraising, and grants from individuals and corporations to carry out its mission.
Role Description
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Community Fundraising Officer, based in Middlesbrough with flexibility for some remote work. The role involves coordinating and managing community fundraising activities to support the organization's mission. Responsibilities include developing and implementing fundraising strategies, building relationships with donors and partners, organizing events, maintaining donor records, and identifying new fundraising opportunities. The Community Fundraising Officer will also engage with the local community and raise awareness about the goals and activities of MDS UK.
Qualifications
* Strong Communication skills, including the ability to interact effectively with donors, volunteers, and stakeholders
* Experience in Fundraising, philanthropy, or charitable organizations is highly preferred
* Exceptional organization skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
* Proficiency in writing, including creating persuasive and impactful content
* Proven experience in event coordination is an advantage
* Passion for non-profit work and supporting patients with health conditions
* Proficiency with digital tools and CRM systems is a plus
