An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Service Support Officer to be recruited into the Corporate Service Support structure on a full time, permanent basis to support the Porth Gofal service area.

About the Role:

The Senior Service Support Officer will mainly work as part of the Targeted Care and Enablement team which provides a short intensive enablement service for people with disabilities and those who are frail and recovering from illness or injury. The team focuses on helping people to restore optimum level of independent functioning and those that have been identified with ongoing needs of care and assistance.

You will be expected to undertake various administration duties to support this team, including inputting and extracting information from IT systems, handling incoming and outgoing correspondence, minute taking, as well as many other activities associated with a busy office environment.

Aside from the usual administrative tasks associated with the role, you will be expected to support Services with collating and analysing service-specific data and presenting this in a way which outlines key trends and risks.

About the Candidate:

The candidate will require a NVQ4 in Business Administration qualification or have proven equivalent experience. You will need to have excellent IT skills as well as good numeric and analytical skills to be able to assist with the collation of data for reporting purposes for senior managers. The successful candidate will have the ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines and prioritise tasks in line with service needs.

The following qualities are also required for the post:

1. ability to work agilely across multiple service areas
2. ability to work within multi-disciplinary teams
3. ability to analyse the impact of problems and prioritise
4. understanding of data security and how that relates to data disclosures
5. must be able to handle sensitive and potentially disturbing information with professionalism and maturity
6. to work with staff at all levels throughout the authority

The candidate will need to be flexible and adaptable as there will be the requirement for the post holder to move between teams dependent on service needs and to manage increased workloads and provide cover for other team members.

Democratic Services

We play a key role in ensuring the smooth and efficient management of the decision-making process of the Council, including support and advice to Councillors; PA, administrative and project management support to all service areas; facilitating elections; the communications team; translation and the Welsh Language policy officer. Our key functions include:

7. Corporate Service Support: PA and Administrative support; Business support including project management and minute taking.
8. Democratic Services: Councillors; Council, Cabinet, Overview and Scrutiny Committees and Regulatory Committees.
9. Electoral Services: General and local elections; Management of electoral register.
10. Communications Team: Manage communication activities corporately; support services in campaigns and projects; deal with the press and media; develop and issue press releases; manage social media pages.
11. Translation: Documents and simultaneous translation.
12. Welsh Language Standards: Operational; Policy making; Promotion; Monitoring; Service delivery.
