The post-holder will normally be based in China for the duration of the course (90 days each semester) and will work closely with:
1. North China University of Technology (NCUT), Beijing, People’s Republic of China,
2. Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications (CQUPT), Chongqing, People’s Republic of China
3. Brunel Language Centre, Brunel University London
4. College of Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences, Brunel University London. During the non-teaching periods, the post-holder will be based in the UK (unless permanently based in China).
During the non-teaching periods, the post-holder will normally be based in the UK and work on material development, assessment, CPD, and other tasks within Brunel Language Centre.
The successful applicant will work within a growing team of EAP tutors and have responsibility for contributing to the successful delivery of a suite of English programmes for NCUT and CQUPT. A team player with experience in a busy working environment, you are a self-starter with excellent decision-making skills. You have a proven interest in teaching technologies and a willingness to embrace latest teaching software. You have empathy with differing cultures and a willingness to develop and improve the student experience of undergraduate students who need to raise their level of English within the context of their degree subject.
An independent and proactive approach to work is essential, and the successful applicant should have a strong desire to find solutions. A flexible attitude, excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation and literacy skills, a willingness to help out and learn (and use) new systems are essential. Previous experience/knowledge of Transnational Higher Education and/or work within Chinese HE sector is desirable.
In order to be shortlisted, applicants must hold a CELTA and a DELTA, and an MA relevant to the Teaching of English is desirable (qualifications in progress are acceptable).

You need to be based in China. If you’re based in the UK, you need to be eligible for a visa to work for approximately 24 weeks a year in China and have the required vaccinations. Brunel University London will support the work permit and visa applications, as well as cover all relevant costs. If you are based in China, you will also need to have the right to work in China and you may sign the contract directly with the Chinese Institution.
On occasion, you may be working with under 18s and the successful applicants will be DBS checked.
