We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, self‑motivation, and experienced Sonographer to support sonography training at Mile End Hospital in this newly created post. The successful candidate will work closely with the Ultrasound Lead Sonographer and Modality Lead Sonographers to ensure the ultrasound service runs smoothly with staff working at the top of their licence.
Responsibilities
* Co‑ordinate and deliver training of student sonographers and up‑skilling of sonographers, radiologists, or other professionals across Mile End, Royal London, and St Barts sites.
* Develop advanced clinical pathways and improve skill mix as a core element of the role.
* Lead clinical activities: perform and report ultrasound examinations independently (70% of the time).
* Administer 30% of the time to coordinating trainee placements, acting as key liaison with universities and education providers, and supporting quality assurance processes.
* Support trainee supervisors with action planning and assessments, ensuring high‑quality education standards across all sites.
* Deliver and oversee training for students, radiologists, and sonographers requiring up‑skilling, including inductions, one‑to‑one supervision, and continuous monitoring of academic and clinical progress in line with CASE‑accredited programmes.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver safe, effective, and patient‑centred imaging services in line with local and national standards.
Qualifications
* Statutory registration with a regulatory body.
* DMU or Post Graduate Cert / Diploma in Medical Ultrasound.
* Experience as an autonomous ultrasound practitioner.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to developing a high‑quality ultrasound training programme.
* Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise workload, and good liaison abilities with other departments.
* Desire and ability to teach others.
