Health Care Assistant - Intestinal Failure

We are seeking an additional Health Care Assistant with an interest in nutrition and caring for long‑term patients to join our specialist service at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust supporting patients with the complex and rare condition known as intestinal failure. You will receive full training in the speciality.
The intestinal failure unit (IFU) is a nationally designated specialist service, receiving complex surgical patients from throughout the UK. As one of two National Reference Centres, the IFU at Salford is recognised as an international centre of excellence for medical and surgical care.
This role is suitable for someone with experience caring for stoma patients and who understands the complex nature of managing long‑term conditions.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of the nursing team delivering care for adults with complex intestinal failure (IF).
Supporting patients with IF during their transition from inpatient to community care will involve direct contact with inpatients, carers and other health‑care professionals (HCPs).
You will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary team, requiring emotional resilience and the ability to provide excellent care delivery.
Full training will be provided for all tasks appropriate to a Health Care Assistant within the field of intestinal failure, including clinical observations, weighing patients, meal delivery, managing complex stoma care and delivering holistic care to all patients within the hospital setting.

* NVQ Level 3 in Healthcare or a Level 3 Senior Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship – or equivalent experience
* Level 1 Literacy and Numeracy (GCSE English and Maths Grade D–G)
* Care Certificate

Salary: £24,937 to £26,598 a year.
