Job Description
The role of the Operational Procedures Officer is to support the development of aerodrome procedures, ensuring Heathrow’s Airside operation applies continuous improvement methodologies to develop safe, efficient and compliant aerodrome procedures applicable to the complex operation at Heathrow. The Operational Procedures Officer will research and apply industry best practice to their area of responsibility. The post holder will work closely with other members of the Airside Operations and Operational Safety Improvement teams to ensure procedures meet Quality & Safety Management Systems requirement, and with the ‘Airfield Operations’ team to ensure that procedures are safe, practicable and meet the needs of the operation. The Operational Procedures Officer is responsible for the administration and development of aerodrome documentation, Operational Advice Notices (OAN’s) and Operational Safety Instructions (OSI’s) and Aerodrome Manual.
Your role will involve
* Developing, maintaining and continuously improving airside operational procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, aerodrome change management processes and industry best practice.
* Act as the subject matter expert for airside operational procedures, providing clear guidance to internal teams and external stakeholders to enable safe, compliant and effective operations.
* Coordinate the review, revision and implementation of Operational Safety Instructions (OSIs) and the Airside OSI Manual, ensuring content is accurate, current and operationally relevant.
* Manage the timely publication and maintenance of airside operational documentation across the Heathrow Airport website and Airport Community App, ensuring consistent access to the latest approved procedures.
* Build strong, collaborative relationships with key external partners such as NATS, airlines and ground handlers, working closely with internal Heathrow teams to align procedures with airside operational objectives.
* Support the Aerodrome Procedures Manager with audits, projects, meetings and ad hoc activities, providing coordination, documentation and operational insight as required.
These Skills Are Essential
* Operational experience of Airside Operations.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to compose high quality formal documentation suited to the intended audience.
* A valid UK driving license and occupational health medical check to enable the successful post holder to obtain an Airside Driving Permit.
* Able to develop positive and productive relationships with stakeholders.
* Fastidious with attention to detail and highly computer literate.
* Able to follow a defined process but also able to think laterally (‘around the problem’) when required.
Ideally, youll also have
* Knowledge of regulatory environment under which Heathrow operates, including practical application of relevant licensing documentation.
* Comfortable influencing at all levels of the business.
* A strong understanding of compliance standards, audit reporting, process documentation, and data management.
* Experience of managing aeronautical data.
* Awareness of CAA 139/2014 requirements and the EU Ground Handling Directive.

Working Location
Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You’ll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
