We specialise in a white‑glove delivery service to some of the most renowned companies worldwide.
Based on our growth strategy, we have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced full‑time Freight Forwarder with commercial and customer‑centric focus to join a progressive, highly people‑oriented organisation. This role is key to ensuring shipments move smoothly across borders, meet compliance standards, and arrive on time every time.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate inbound and outbound freight shipments via road, air, and sea.
* Investigate and plan the most appropriate route for a shipment, considering perishable or hazardous nature, cost, transit time, and security.
* Arrange appropriate packing based on climate, terrain, weight, and nature of goods, and manage final destination warehousing.
* Obtain, check, and prepare documentation to meet customs, insurance, packing specifications, and compliance with other countries’ regulations and fiscal regimes.
* Offer consolidation services by air, sea, and road to small shippers lacking sufficient cargo.
* Liaise with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs agents.
* Prepare and verify shipping documentation such as bills of lading and commercial invoices.
* Track shipments and proactively resolve delays or issues.
* Ensure compliance with import/export regulations and company policies.
* Communicate with internal departments (sales, warehouse, finance) to align freight needs.
* Monitor freight costs and support cost‑saving initiatives.
* Assist with freight claims and damage reports.
* Arrange insurance and manage claims.
* Arrange urgent air transport for high‑value freight and manage door‑to‑door risk.
* Deal with special arrangements for transporting delicate cargoes such as livestock, food, and medical supplies.
* Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, and other factors affecting freight movement.
Skills & Qualifications
* Commercial awareness.
* Interpersonal and networking skills for building and developing relationships with customers.
* Experience with customs processes and freight management software.
* Strong understanding of Incoterms.
* Tenacity and drive to seek new business and meet or exceed targets.
* Ability to maintain accurate records in a freight management system.
* Effective communication with internal departments to align freight needs.
* Proactive tracking and resolution of shipment delays or issues.
* Commitment to monitoring freight costs and supporting cost‑saving initiatives.
