Our client, a trusted partner of the UK Ministry of Defence, is seeking a skilled General Operator to carry out manufacturing and self-certification duties, including sub-assembly work. The role focuses on wire looming, cable binding, and soldering to defence standards. The successful candidate will help define certification procedures, uphold workmanship standards, and support project goals. Key Responsibilities: Assemble and secure wire harnesses using looming and binding techniques. Perform fibre optic and wiring tasks through lope holes on production lines. Perform precise assembly and manufacturing tasks according to established procedures, quality standards, safety protocols, and deadlines. Help streamline the flow of work and information in the manufacturing area. Adhere in all activities to agreed standards and behaviours. Comply with all health and safety requirements. IPC 610 certified / trained preferred.
Tentatively work across several departments, these might include: Looming: binding wire looming is a cable assembly that efficiently distributes electrical signals by linking cables together using a crimping tool. (Ex; wiring, root wiring, soldering and fibre optics cabling), PEC and CCA Assembly Microelectronics Plastics Department (Ex; applying glues, cutting out intricate patterns, and moulding). Manufacturing Control/ Stores (Kitting, SAP, Picking goods inwards). Must be comfortable working under a microscope for most of the work.
What do you need?: Proficient in dexterity for precise tasks. Wire Looming & Harness Assembly Diagram Interpretation & Layout Reading Adherence to instructions. Flexibility to work varying shift patterns. Attention to Detail & Independent Working Completed ESD training.
Additional skills: PC literate Basic Microsoft skills Experience utilising a soldering iron and working with manufacturing micro-components Utilised crimping tool Experience using a microscope/magnifying glass
