Summary of the site
Cygnet Harrow is a 5‑ward hospital based in one of the most beautiful areas in London. We have a variety of different wards, including two highly specialised male ASD wards and acute services. We have a designated qualified OT for each service line as well as OTAs and Activity Coordinators supporting the activities on the wards.
Role Description
The Occupational Therapy Assistant role involves planning and implementing therapeutic activities appropriate to the needs, choices and interests of individuals in our care, under the supervision and guidance of a qualified Occupational Therapist. The role includes working with the in‑house MDT which is designed to support the individual in our care throughout their journey with us.
Team members include nurses, psychologists, psychology assistants, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistants, social workers, speech and language therapists, and psychiatrists, as well as 24/7 support from the nursing team.
You will mainly be working on the male rehabilitation wards with some crossover and opportunities for rotation to the acute ward as you progress within the role.

Qualifications and Experience
* Understanding of working with individuals diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
* Excellent communication and time management skills.
* Ability to manage highly demanding clinical presentation.
* Interest in the field of adult mental health/ learning disabilities (ASD mental health).
Requirements
Successful candidates will be required to undergo an enhanced DBS and reference check, and employment will be subject to successful clearance.
Preceptorship & Induction
We offer an Occupational Therapy Assistant preceptorship programme in the first 12 months to support and consolidate core skills, plus regular virtual Q&A sessions with our clinical lead OT and networking with other OT Assistants in your service line.
