Welding Inspector | Contract | £47.48 per hour (umbrella) | London Ceto Talent is recruiting for a Welding Inspector to join a safety-critical rolling stock maintenance team based in London, with the requirement to work across other depot locations as business needs dictate. This is a hands-on inspection role working on safety-critical railway vehicles and components, requiring a thorough and methodical approach to quality assurance and non-destructive testing. Essential Requirements * Minimum qualification to CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector. * Level 4 qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication and Welding, or a related engineering discipline — or equivalent proven experience in a quality control environment. * Proven welding inspection experience with working knowledge and application of: ISO 5817, ISO 10042, ISO 3834, and EN 15085. * Experience undertaking inspections before, during, and after welding in accordance with BS EN ISO 17637 (Visual Testing). * Experience investigating and reporting non-conformances and compiling assurance documentation. * Experience conducting internal surveillance audits in accordance with BS EN 15085 and ISO 3834. * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and produce dimensional reports. * Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Access. * Must have the right to work in the United Kingdom. Desirable (Not Essential) * Working knowledge of ISO 17637 and ISO 9606 Qualification testing of welders. * Previous qualification in MIG/MAG, TIG, or MMA welding. * Experience in a rail or large-scale manufacturing environment. * Ability to read and understand technical drawings and welding specifications. Key Responsibilities As Welding Inspector, you will undertake inspections before, during, and after welding on safety-critical rolling stock vehicles and components, in accordance with the inspection and test plan. You will carry out independent non-destructive testing of welds, identify corrective actions required to assure the standard of work, and ensure all activities comply with BS EN 15085 and ISO 3834 control manual requirements throughout the repair process. You will interpret engineering drawings to ensure fabrications are produced in accordance with specifications, collaborate with welders and operational managers to maintain consistency and quality, and record and report non-conformances through the Quality Management System. The role also involves witnessing welder qualification tests in accordance with ISO 9606, coaching and mentoring welding staff to maintain standards, and conducting internal surveillance audits.
