SAU Health Care Assistant – Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board
Band 2 Health Care Support Workers are required for the Surgical Assessment Unit at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd. The successful applicant will join a supportive and dedicated team.
Job Overview
The role requires some experience in care, preferably in a hospital environment. Excellent communication skills, teamwork, initiative and organisational skills are essential. Training, mentorship and support will be provided.
Main Duties
* Carry out delegated nursing tasks for patients, including bathing, toileting, feeding, and administering last offices.
* Assist with intentional rounding and provide pressure care to patients, maintaining accurate documentation.
* Inform nursing staff of any changes or issues in a patient’s condition.
* Recognise and respond to changes in a patient’s behaviour or condition, reporting to the Registered Nurse at all times.
* Respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations.
* Maintain a tidy and clean department.
* Escort patients with no dependency to other wards.
* Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and colleagues.
* Assist with obtaining urine/faeces samples as required by a trained nurse.
* Work with other health professionals to achieve a multi‑disciplinary approach to treatment and care.
* Assist patients with dietary requirements and monitor daily food orders as instructed by a registered nurse.
* Assist in maintaining stock levels, re‑stocking and general housekeeping duties.

Qualifications / Skills
Essential criteria:
* Hospital or care experience.
Desirable criteria:
* NVQ Level 2.
* Experience working within the EQ.
* Experience working in BCUHB.
Experience
Essential criteria:
* Working in line with the HCSW code of conduct.
* Worked in care, demonstrating evidence of delivering patient care.
Desirable criteria:
* Familiar with BCUHB documentation.
* Working towards NVQ Level 3.
* Completed the HCSW framework.
