Job Summary
Provision of quantity surveying services alongside a Senior Quantity Surveyor. The Quantity Surveyor's role is diverse and is key to the company's future development and success in delivering a continuous flow of new business and identifying opportunities in live projects to boost project performance.
Main Responsibilities
1. Maintain contract documentation and advise on pre-tender and post contract matters
2. Preparation and issue of contractual letters to clients and / or sub-contractors, where necessary
3. Post contract liaison with clients and / or design team
4. Sub-contract negotiation and timely letting of sub-contractors, including co-ordination of subcontractors
5. Preparation and submission of interim valuations
6. Site measurement
7. Manage and value variations both from sub-contractors and to GEM clients / contract administrators
8. Agreement and certification of sub-contractor's interim valuations and final accounts
9. Agreement of final accounts with clients / contract administrators
10. To attend meetings and site visits
11. Assist in the completion and submission of PQQs
12. Maintain sub-contract data base
13. Prepare and issue sub-contract enquiries and assessment of quotations upon receipt
14. Complete tender documents for submission
15. Assist in producing commercial reports, cost reports, monthly reports etc.
16. Provide initial cashflow schedule for each project responsible

Essential requirements:
1. High degree of personal motivation.
2. Commercial acumen.
3. Ability to work as part of a close-knit management team and manage numerous activities / projects simultaneously – both short and long term.
4. Ability to work on own initiative and with the minimum of supervision.
5. Outgoing personality essential for dealing directly with Clients and their design team.
6. Good negotiator.
7. Flexibility with regard to working across all areas of the business, and hours to meet the requirements of this challenging position.
8. Working knowledge of standard forms of measurement and contracts.
9. IT skills - particularly Microsoft Programs.
10. Excellent communication skills.
11. To be willing to accept responsibility for completing designated tasks.
Desirable requirements:
1. Holder of a full clean UK driving licence or in the process of learning to drive.
