Shop Manager
Location: Chichester, West Sussex
Salary: £28,000 per annum - willing to flex DOE
Hours: 37.5 per week, rota basis (averaged over a two-week pattern, includes weekends and Bank Holidays)
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established and highly regarded garden centre in West Sussex as a Shop Manager, overseeing the retail shop and food hall operations within a busy and popular site.
What you'll be doing:
As Shop Manager, you'll take responsibility for the day-to-day running of the shop and food hall, ensuring high standards of customer service, presentation, and commercial performance.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Managing daily retail operations, ensuring smooth and efficient running of the shop and food hall.
Leading, motivating, and developing the team to create a positive and high-performing environment.
Driving sales, managing budgets, controlling costs, and improving overall profitability.
Overseeing stock control, merchandising, and product quality standards.
Handling customer feedback and complaints professionally and proactively.
Ensuring full compliance with health and safety and operational procedures.
Working closely with senior management to achieve revenue targets and operational goals.

Proven experience in retail management.
Demonstrable experience leading and developing a team.
Strong commercial awareness, including experience managing budgets and sales targets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer-first mindset.
Ability to delegate effectively and manage multiple priorities across departments.
A calm and solutions-focused approach, particularly during busy trading periods.
Flexibility to work weekends and seasonal peak periods.
An interest in sustainability and environmentally friendly practices would be advantageous.
